So, lately I have been playing with Linux Distros due to my distaste for windows. I am not computer savvy in the least. Well, I did build my desktop which was super easy. Anyways, I have played with Ubuntu, Mandriva, and now Linspire. Linspire, hands down, is the easiest of the three. It is so easy to customize and make feel my own. There is this program CNR (click and run). It has thousands of different software (Everything needed is free.) that can be downloaded with one click of the mouse. Nothing more is needed. Spyware is not an issue. Viruses are virtually nonexistent. Disk Defrag will never have to happen again because it is happening constantly in the background. Have you noticed your Windows OS slowing down after you have used it after... well even a week for me. So much garbage invades windows software.

Long story short, a distro can be downloaded for free, burned to a CD, and some can be run "live", off the disk, so you can see how Linux will work for you without installing it. One other thing. You know pages, for example, on myspace, that have a picture of the world and have dots all over with a smiley face that pops up and says "you are here!"... or something like that. Well, my location comes up all over the world. Most times its in Africa some where.

Anyways, here are some screen shots of the desktop and CNR. I have it so my wallpaper changes every 5 minutes. What can I say, I am an advocate of things that I truly and strongly believe in.

Ubuntu's 7.04 (FiestyFawn) is being released on the 19th... should be a good one to try. This site has a lot of stuff to check out.

At the the moment I have a dual boot system; Windows and Xandros.

Xandros even has a program called Crossover Office which enables you to run certain Windows apps like Dreamweaver,Office and Photoshop.

Only thing I have against it is that there is no linux driver for my wireless card, so at the moment I am mostly using Windows. If they do release a driver for my card I will probably switch to Xandros completley.

I will give Linspire a go though, it sounds good. Thanks

Linux owns, if you like Linspire... try Kubuntu or Ubuntu they put it to shame! And drivers for most hardware already included in distro.:aok:

I'm a networking major in college and as far at linux goes I'd go for ubuntu as its the best user friendly distro out there. Nextly I'd suggest Fedora Core. I like it as well. I like Linux's look but since I run on a P4 3.4 with 2 gigs of ram that I've had for like 3 years windows runs fine on my pc. But it was a monster when I bought it 3 years ago and still kicks mucho ***.
