My very good freind who has been around MJ for as long as I have, told me of a grower he knows that beats his plants up:confused: . He claims that broken stems and general manhandling turns them into superplants?

I do not think I would have the heart to try this, never could strike a lady:D , but I was curious if anyone had ever done something like this (you basturd;) )?

I once beat my girlfriend up in a fit of jealous rage.. she was trying to take my weed!!!! JUST KIDDING!!

but i will insert my 2.3 cents here... I had a plant that I was learning LST on... I split one of the branches.. it was about to fall off.. so I used a paperclip and it healed itself but it created this giant lump where it broke kind of like a knot in a tree.... maybe not like a knot in a tree, but, huh....... so anyways the bud on that branch was much huger than the other one.... it was like a softball, it seemed like the plant concentrated all of it's growing power on the top of that branch...

don't be trying this at home though...

this isn't something i've repeated and verified as i've only had one crop.....

I believe it was in a book that I once read about twisting the stems, like an "indian burn" with your fingers. If you do it just hard enough you can kind of get a crunch out of the outer layer and seperate it from the inner stalk. This small amount of damage was supposed to make that branch get stronger/fatter. I tried it a couple times and couldn't see too much difference.
I had a plant that the top got broken off and was hanging down by a thread. I let it be and it healed into the big knuckle thing Vito was refering to then proceeded to grow back up in a strange curve. It didn't do too much bud-wise though.

I tried the "bruising" the stem thing....The area thickened a bit but nothing substantial. Just my 2 cents though.

I had one plant the broke during a storm it was 6 feet and really bushy when i found it it had just started budding and the stalk broke just above the ground with the white part sticking all the way out of the green bark like a compound fracture. I left the plant thinking it would be dead next time but it also made a huge knot where the break was. All the bottom now that once was the side died from no light but the other side all the side buds turned into top colas and it made 3/4 of a pound of good herb. mj is astrong plant. I have also heard of crimping all the limbs and bending them down and its suposed to make the sap build up in the buds. Slim

Yea it's called SUPER CROPPING and it does work if done right. You don't want to damage the plant where it has to concentrate to much energy to repairing the pinch. You don't want to break the stem, all you do is in between each node you want to twist about a quarter to half way around till you feel a snap. You do not want to twist so hard as to have a rip on the outer layer of your stalk. You repeat all the way up the the stalk. You will be amazed at the growth you get over the next couple days. I've known guys growing in the sea of green method to get 2 ounces off a plant 12-16 inches tall. Pinching ( SUPER CROPPING ) may add a week to your growing time but can add 25%-50% more yield if done right. The negative for an indoor grower is if you pinched it to hard the plant takes alot longer to repair ( THE KNOT ) and it could push your growing time back longer. Google it.

the plant i'm talking about was a green spirit fem and had 3 main branches. two of them were normal and had little branches with buds on them and a normal top....the branch with the knot- the branch that i pinched- did not have any branches on it... all the branches were concentrated on the top. imagine a bunch of tiny little branches all on the top- compared to the other tops it was a strange shape- kind of like a catchers mit.... yeah there was increased growth but mostly i thought this would be cool for indoor growers because they only get light to the top....

could this work? would you want it to work?

I really want to thank you guys for the responses, as I said, I don't think I will be trying this, but it is good to know my freinds are not just terminally violent toward plants:rolleyes: .

Thank you Bojok for applying the name to the technique.

I have seem some massive buds come from this. It happened to me when I had to move my babies. I heard about it from the guy that got me growing and he calls it "supercropping." Seems to work well, if you know what you are doing.
