is black gold good for starting seeds? or should i go with another brand? if so what would u guys suggest?

it's been a few years since I used BG, but I don't "recall" ever having any seedling issues with it. I do believe that I always added about 15%-25% perlite to 'lighten' it up a bit.

I have used black gold and Hick is right it is very dense and rich..not great for draining I actually like it for summer better than winter because we get so hot here.. if you want organic you can use roots grow soil it is works great for me.

ok thx for the help..i live in hawaii so im not sure if we have that roots soil here...but ill chk anyways. thx again and aloha

Black gold up here is just soil with no additives, it is a very black
rich looking soil, i use it to top dress my flower and veggy gardens because its so nice to look at, i would think it would be ideal for seedlings as there is nothing added....if its the saame as we have up here.

I've used the black gold before. it's a good organic soil, but like Hick said, it has drainage issues if you don't add some perlite
