My 6.5 X 6.5 tent contains 2 lights.
Older 1000W bulb with old style ballast (origins unknown) and a brand new
GrowLush digital ballast with a 600W Son T lamp.
1K bulb has smallish reflector (16") and other has full 36" hood.
Right now the 600W Runs across back of tent and the 1000W runs 90deg(perpendicular) to the 600W.

So questions are:
1. Is there a better way to use these two lights?
2. Anyone know anything about about the digital ballast. There is no manual and website listed on box is dead. It has adjustments on it for 60/80/110 percent? Does that work?
I do love that it is purple ;) :headbang2:

Swap out the large reflector to the larger light--the 1000W.

What do you need to know about the digital ballast? I have a Lumatec with adjustments. I have not used the "super lumens" (the 110%) feature. I have my 600W in a space about 2 x 4, so I have turned it down a few times when the temps have been especially high. It seems to work. I can see the difference in the light when it is on 400W and 600W.

While we do love seeing purple on our plants, most of the time it denotes some kind of deficiency, too much cold, or some other problem.....

uhh THG . . . I think she means her ballast is purple ?? :stoned:

Yep, that's what I mean. Purple is as purple does!

THG- you suggested I do that before but it isn't possible in this case.
Too much difference in the fixtures. (voltage/analog v digital) for me to sleep well at night. If they were the same brand/type I would be comfortable.
Gotta be safe and able to sleep at night.

Also since the 1000W is second hand- I'm not sure which one is putting out more light. Is there some easy way to test the lumens in my tent?
How good are the light meters that are on the ph/moisture/light all in one testers? I've got one of those but mostly use it for PH and moisture.

So I toss out again- should lamps be parallel or perpendicular?

I called the place I got it from and got some more info. And when I bought it two weeks ago I swear there was no website. Now there is one and it says: If you have questions email us.
However there is no email address anywhere on the site.

I may start a business doing marketing for grow shops. Some of them have web presences that are postively PAINFUL!!!

LOL--purple ballast. That's funny.

I guess I don't understand the problems with the hoods. It is actually a simple matter to rewire reflector sockets. No matter how old the 1000W bulb is, I doubt that it is putting out less light than the 600W. Can you get a new bulb? I like to change my bulbs out every year or so as they lose lumens over time.

If you are talking about the little probe thing you stick in the soil to measure pH and moisture, they are really not good at all--I think they are worse than useless because they are never right and people think they are. I would be hesitant to rely on the light meter, as I know the pH meter is really bad and not dependable.

I think that you are simply going to have to stand in your tent and decide how the hoods you have are best hung. Look at the light distribution. Whether you want them parallel or perpendicular will depend on how they are spreading the light.

Use the 1000 watt system with the bigger reflector. If the plugs are different, they sell adapters.

OK- DONE!!!

My super handy hubby took care of it for me today.
The small one is hanging on an angle right now but looking good.
I'm sooooo lucky to have a guy that is not only a fellow lover of this fine plant but also can give McGyver a run for his money.
