I quit a very long tobacco habit 4 years ago, cold turkey, no nicotine gum or patch. It was absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Pure hell. It was about 9 months before I felt completely normal again. 9 months.

Anybody here ever quit tobacco (for good)?

been quit 24 years..... smoked from age 16 to 24...... quit cold turkey...... first month was hardest...... one of the best things I ever did for myself.

I quit smoking (tobacco that is) April of 2003 after smoking for over 37 years. I have not had a cigarette since. I also quit cold turkey. I decided that nicotine was the thing I was trying to get out of my body and I didn't want to use any nicotine products. I did however get a dugout with a cigarette bat. When the craving got bad, I would take out the one hitter (that can be a 3 hitter if you hit easy) that looked like a cigarette and got relief by taking a little hit of some great bud. I also ate a lot of red licorice. It is absolutely the best thing I have every done for myself in my entire life.

I'm very impressed that you were able to quit tobacco at the age of 24. I tried to quit countless times since I started at 12 years old. I wasn't able to finally quit till I was 45 years old.

My brother-in-law wasn't able to finally quit till he had a massive heart attack last year. But he's doing great now. Loving life and playing with house money.

Cool THG. You and I used tobacco for for about the same amount of time. Glad you're quit.

My quit was hell, hell, hell. But now I'm so glad I quit. I feel so much better, and I worry so much less.

I quit a 2 pk a day habbit when I got pregnant at 27. I weaned myself off in a few weeks by allowing myself just a few a day, I would light, put out, then relight later. They got so so nasty that way and I quit very easy. That was 14 yrs ago.

I have smoked three times since then with my best girlfriend. Id bum one off her when we were drinking. Each time, I ended puking a few hours later. Yuck!

Cigs are nasty, please quit if you still smoke tobacco.

I quit around 2 years ago. After smoking since I was 17.

I have smoked a few since them when Im drinking and such. And it also always ends with me burried in the toilet :(

I quit cold turkey on Jan. 10 1991, flying back from Germany. My son was 1 month old and I had not seen him yet. I left my pack of cigs. in the pocket of the seat in front of me and haven't smoked since. Ok, that's a lie, I do smoke weed...LOL :)

After 24 years quit oct. 17 5 years now and did it cold turkey. same as thg best thing i ever did for myself and body, i can really breath now with out coughing.

I smoked for around 15 years until I just couldn't figure out why! It tasted terrible, cost more than I cared to spend and really wasn't good for me...so I threw the pack out the car window and haven't ever looked back. That was 15 years ago or so...back when the prices were going from $1 to $1.50/pack!

It's really quite simple if you are true with yourself about wanting to quit.
