hey guys, i was just wondering if i can veg. with the CFL's in the warm spectrum. i am pressed for time and no one local has the 6500K scale CFLS in 42+ watts. unless anyone knows of a place that delivers fast from ordering online? i really want to get things started, but i want to do it right. it's my fault for procrastinating, but it's always cold here until late June anyways, so i have time. thanks in advance

I am veggin' 6 plants right now with 4 blue spectrum lights and 2 warm cfls in the red spectrum. It can be done...

i feel the bulb i have are a soft white in color 3000K, but i can't tell, they are from wally world and they are the GE general purpose energy smart 42W, the packaging says nothing about color scale. they are 2700lumens and are rated at 12000 hours, that is all the info i have on these. thanks

hey T-Bone ... I have the same one .. they were like 8 bux right ???? yea they dont tell you much .. But im actually flowering a AK-48 with one right now and its working great . I also heard it was 2700k from a member of this site

Most definetly you can veg with them, I did, with 4 of the 2600k 42-watt bulbs. They are full spectrum so its no worry. My plants vegged under them were almost too dense, the internodal spacing was A+ my friend.
Floro light is an entirely different beast than HID light, and I for one don't believe at all that the spectrum analysis carries over when thinking about one type of light or the other. Floro light is so broad in spectrum that I don't think you need to worry. I mean, 2600k with a HPS looks like Mars, but the CFL's that are rated around the same produce whiter light with plenty of blue. Just say grow ~

Nice everyone, thankyou so much for the quick replys. i can't wait to start another season.

yeah those 2 cfl's I am using are the same ones you are using and asking about. They are the highest lumen cfl's wal mart sells.

Once I get my HPS system I'm going to use them for supplimental lighting on my babies.
