Wasn't there a kitty litter that worked? I think either J Bones or MindzEye had a thread on it. Was some kind of silica or something...I forget and was most definitely baked when I read it.
It's probably the same material roughly that is able to absorb odors. If you are really cheap and want to reuse yer activated charcoal, you can actually reactivate it by spreading it out in a large cookie tray and baking it in yer oven on 400 for about 1 hour. That cooks out all of the "stuff" that gets trapped in the coal. I honestly don't know what kind of smell will end up in your house while baking it out though. I think it is supposed to not produce much smell while baking but don't quote me on it.
Hush, i have heard that every odour contained in the carbon gets released and it stinks real real bad when its cooked, i dont know either, never tried it just heard this
Okay scratch the kitty litter idea.....after doing some research on the net I found it had big drawbacks. Works great on day 1 but it will absorb more moisture then odor and by day 3 airflow is greatly reduced. I have seen bulk carbon on eBay for good prices.
Check industrial supply places for bulk amounts. Ive bought it for work before at the same place we get spill kits and other haz waste handling type stuff. GAC has alot of applications.
