Does any one know how much wind a mature plant can hold unitil it starts to give way? Maybe in MPH

know way to answer it depends on age stalk size and there are way to many varables to to figure. Maybe nascar will let you use the wind tunnel and you can do some test. Lol All you can do its hope for the best.Slim

Ha well it kinda was a stupid question ...i just need to find a way to keep my plants from getting shredded , supposed to have 20-30 mhp winds the next few days. Tallest one is 4ft1in with about 1/3in stalke...

suppercrop UM'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive got a thread on it in the stickies- makes a tomatoe vine into an upright bush. stakes will work for weak plants....

Man i hate the wind...its been blowing like 30-40mph FOR TWO DAYS STRAIGHT.... I hope my plants make it through this

sweat pants work for tying, they breathe and strech but still support well and will last multiple seasons! cheep in the pring /summer too ;)
Discarded pantyhose serve well too... if you have a source, that is.

Stakes work very well,so long as you make them a "substantial object" :D.Obviously,if they are in pots and you drive the stakes into the pots soil they wont be very effective. The amount of wind throughout a plants lifetime will also give more of an advantage to higher winds. However, every living thing has their threshold.Check out old hippies thread, his girls endured tordados and golfball size hail!!!They recovered, that was during the veg cycle. If it were to happen during the flowering phase,I think you would have to cut your loses IMO :D
Stay cool

Man my plants look mangled .... leaves are kinda folded , i beleive they will come back though
