hi all
I am wanting to build a 4x4x4 grow box, just for autos. I will be hanging a 400w sealed reflector, with a 6 inch 440 cfm inline fan. The fan will be pulling air (thru ducting) from outside of the cabinet, thru the reflector, and then out the sealed cabinet (again, thru ducting). My question is, do you think it will be to hot in the cabinet with the 400w?

Recess the light into the top of the cabinet. This way the metal hood is outside the room as is a vast percentage of heat that cannot reach the plants. ;)

Been thinking bout that one for some time too. I have a 400w just sitting in the garage.

so the reflector will be outside the cabinet and the glass will be flush with the top of the cabinet, thus the reflector glass will be 4 ft from the bottum of the cabinet, and instead of lowering the light to the plants, the plants will have to be raised to the light. This could be accomplished with adjustable shelving. but again, will it still be cool enough in the cabinet, even with the hot reflector on the outside of the cabinet?

hello dirty...yes that 400 will be fine..I did a 1000MH just as yall are talking about..if ya place that light on outside of box..verry little heat gets in..oh i used glass from ski lights as they was temperred..the box was 4x6..the glass sat on top of wood box..IMO..the 400 dont really put out much heat..i put mine about 2 inches from canopy ...hope this helps..keep us posted..and some pics would be nice too..thanks
