medium means, the stuff where you grow your plants in: soil, rockwool, ..... You can mix perlite in your soil, it is wellknow that perlite makes your soil lighter and it holds water ;) greetz

one way i really prefer soil, much higher yields then hydro, but on the other side i really prefer hydro or aero because the faster finishing of the plants, and the direct feeding to the roots. greetz
