My wife bought a set of flannel sheets a couple years ago. I thought they'd be too hot, but they aren't. They're very, very comfortable. Even in summer. It's weird, but I like it pretty cool when I sleep, then I pull the covers up to my head. I also prefer a hot shower, year 'round.

If a customer insisted that I only repair one side, I'd refuse the job and send them packing. Pads, rotors, drums, hardware, calipers and wheel cylinders, always in pairs. If I couldn't do a thorough job, I'd refuse it. Brake repair ain't a guessing game. If Mr. Customer is too cheap to fix it...

Never replace brake components on just one side - one axle, yes. But both sides, always. If your left brake hose blew, chances are the right side isn't far behind. Same with locked up/defective brake calipers.

Don't feel bad. I'm a retired mechanic with no garage. I just paid a shop 1200 bucks to fix an oil leak and put a new radiator in my wife's car. Talk about suck.
