Do LED UFO & Other Work (you look here)

Thanks for the pics of your first Grow bf74. Besides the commercially assembled panels I see you also used 12 ww and 12 cw LEDS. Did you wire them up yourself, or did they come assembled? I'm interested to know as I hope to include them to round off spectrum in the rig I'm planning

Building a LED light system for a wardrobe

My stuck point now is sourcing high power coloured LEDs. The best I've found after much site trawling are only in the 30-35ma range i.e. way under .1w each, which means I'd need to solder many hundreds just to grow one plant. I've so often heard mention of LEDs ranging in power from .5w up to...

Building a LED light system for a wardrobe

Good tip thanks Goddess - I never was keen on alfoil as I feel it contributes to hotspots, whilst white is good at difusing the light. I'm off to the shop now for a can of titanium white paint

Building a LED light system for a wardrobe

Spearchucker: thanks for the tip. Luxeonstar drivers look good from the link. However I already have a power supply from a dead computer so I shall be using that as the cost is zero. There's a range of voltages, and at 24v its rated for 0.5a, giving 24 x 0.5 = 12w which is almost adequate...

Building a LED light system for a wardrobe

No disrespect Getmelifted: There's heaps of discussion about whether or not LEDs are beneficial elsewhere on this site. However I hope to keep this thread on topic - discussing how to actually construct a working, practical LED rig.

Building a LED light system for a wardrobe

There's a lot of stuff about LEDs, how they compare/cost to other lights etc. but this thread is specifically about constructing a LED system for a wardrobe (because thats what I'm just about to do). I'd like to share what I learn, and hope to get heaps of tips/ideas from other folks out there...

Do LED UFO & Other Work (you look here)

but i have to customize a reflector does LED require a good reflector ? or it beams from the top and no reflector is needed? LEDs are almost entirely directional, they need no reflectors for most of the light, but mounting them on a white board, or using reflective surfaces around your plant...

Do LED UFO & Other Work (you look here)

Yes at the moment LEDs produce about 40 - 45 lumens per watt, which is roughly the performance of a CFL, and less than HID etc. But the whole story is more involved: LEDs emit a narrow frequency with virtually no power wasted as useless colours or heat (like green or uv). Assembled as a...

Let's help each other's Electric bill

I've lived on solar power out in the bush for years (tho I'm back in the big smoke now, just for a while) so I've learnt to be frugal with my power use. I could go on for pages but I'll suggest a few tips I don't think have been mentioned yet: Wrap it up!!! The fridge: I did my city one with...

    I need co2 advice please...

I've been wondering whether a slow burning candle would be a good CO2 booster for my setup in a wardrode. Still allowing natural ventilation by convection from holes in top and bottom of cupboard. Assuming I don't get heating problems, if I light a slow burning candle each day, is that likely to...
